The new Brightwell Xport Bioplates are ceramic bricks with a huge surface area due to a huge concentration of microscopic and nano sized pores. The total surface area of each Xport Bioplate is upwards of 97,000 square feet that brightwell claims can treat up to 1,250 gallons of aquarium water each.
The Xport Bioplates are made up of the same compound as Continuum Aquatics Exxodus and includes a ‘plain’ biological brick, a denitrifying brick but no GFO formulation. The aragonite blend of the Xport Bioplate helps to neutralize biological acids produced during aerobic bacterial activity, helping to buffer pH and alkalinity in the process.
与此同时,“黄色”XportBioplate is laced with elemental sulfur to help fuel the growth of anaerobic bacteria that consume nitrate during denitrification. Each Brightwell Aquatics Xport Bioplate is estimated to cost around $49 per brick, but you’d easily spend ten times that trying to put in a comparable amount of biological surface area in the form of live rock.
