Scribbled angelfish are one of the iconic aquarium fish of Australia and it has long been the most popularly kept member of the genusChaetodontoplus. Finally, the scribbled angelfish is the latest species to get the captive bred treatment from巴厘岛Aquarichwhich has had great successes over the last year with a much less common marine fish, theMaze angelfish.
With so much good news coming from the captive breeding front, its sometimes hard to keep up and indeed, this latest announcement of captive bred scribbled angelfish comes fromQuality Marinewhich is shaping up to be the official U.S. outlet of captive bred angelfish from Bali Aquarich. Quality Marine has already received a small batch of the babyChaetodonotplus duboulayiwhich range in size from the size of a quarter to about half dollar size, between 25 and 30mm in diameter.
While the maze angelfish that Bali Aquarich produced represent a species which not available in the aquarium hobby, scribbled angelfish are abundant and common in the aquarium, but only as young adults and larger specimens. We expect this crop of scribbled angelfish to be more affordable but will still command a fair cost since these fish are in very limited supply.
Looking at Quality Marine’s fabulous pictures of their “dwarf” captive bred scribbled angelfish it’s clear to see that Bali Aquarich is getting really good at raising better, and higher quality specimens of captive bred angelfish. The captive bred scribbleds have perfect shape, full fins, and beautifully symmetrical eyes, mouths and faces. With Bali Aquarich having so many successes in breeding angelfish across genera includingPomacanthus, HolacanthusandChaetodontoplus, it’s probably only a matter of time before Mr. Su has a breakthrough with Conspicuous angelfish and other species.
