The Macro Aqua Mind Reader pump is an interesting new device from the Chinese OEM which really grabbed our attention with a single pump making huge waves in a demo tank. Much like the Seio pumps of old, and the spankin new Tunze NanoStream 6020/6040, the Macro Aqua Mind Reader pump is a vertically mounted propeller pump which deflects its flow through a 90 degree outlet.
The timing and intensity of the Mind Reader pump is programmed through a controller which displays the progress of the wave with a dot-matrix of red indicator LEDs. Due to the language barrier, It was hard to glean too many details about the function of Macro Aqua’s Mind Reader wave pump but there seemed to be an automatic aspect to how the waves were being generated by this one pump.
While the bulky size and boxy shape of the Macro Aqua Mind Reader might not be winning too many beauty pageants, there’s no denying that this device is capable of moving some serious water, especially in the oscillatory flow department. If waves are what you are looking to produce, the Macro Aqua Mind Reader is perhaps even more effective than a Tunze Wavebox, without the box part.
Macro Aqua is making the Mind Reader wave pump in three sizes, with maximum flow rates ranging from 4500 to 14,000 lph (1,000 to 3,700 gph) and peak power draws from 14 to 37 watts. Macro Aqua also packages the Mind Reader into a dual pump setup but it seems to be controlled by a different controller specifically setup to time two pumps, it wasn’t clear if you could daisy chain the standalone controllers together.
