The Aquabee UP8000 is another addition in the DC pump arena. It is a little brother to their UP11000 pump, which we coveredhere. These are NOT just another run of rebranded DC pumps. These are new pumps that represent excellent engineering with some features unique only to this line of pumps.
The UP8000 series runs on 24 volts for your safety and features a controller that can adjust the flow by 5-watt increments. What caught our attention was that the pump was capable of 1,000 gallons per hour when set to run at only 5-watts. That’s a decent amount of flow for such little electrical consumption. At the max of 50W, the pump generates 2,000 GPH with practically no noise or heat. At 50W, it can handle a max head pressure of 12 ft. The Aquabee UP8000 series can also be purchased as a needle wheel pump for protein skimmers.
Moving up to the UP11000 gets you around 2,900 GPH at 130W, with around 30 ft. of head pressure. The UP11000 can be dialed down to 20W, which equals around 1,300 GPH. For more details on the UP11000, read our post fromInterzoo 2012.
Both pumps are equipped with easy-to-use control modules to dial the pumps up and down. They also appear to be available in black or white. Retail pricing in the EU is around €500 for the UP8000 and €600-700 euros for the UP11000. They are available to order now in the EU, but no word on when US models will show up stateside.
