Bio-Phos 80 is a new phosphate removing resin that just hit the scene from Bio Aquatek. Bio-Phos 80 is a synthetic iron hydroxide resin designed to be a superchargedPO4remover that is stronger and more durable than your traditional granular ferric oxide (GFO). Since the resin is more durable you can use it in a turbulent, high-flow area or reactor without having to worry about the resin breaking down like GFO.
Bio Aquatek lists a capacity ranging from 40g/kg to 80g/kg of PO4 removal depending on water conditions and is also suitable for absorbing silica (S1O2) from the system. In comparison, ROWAphos removes 12G of phosphate per kg of media. Bio-Phos 80 is also described as high density with low dust so it stays in place where it is supposed to be and not break off and float into your main tank and harm your tank’s inhabitants.
