With Vertex having released their wirelessly controlled Illumina LED light everywhere except the U.S., they’re now shifting gears towards different ways to control it, as well as future wireless enabled products. We already told you about theCerebra touchscreen aquarium controllerwhich will be able to load aquarium program apps from the Cerebra app market but in the meantime, Vertex will soon be releasing the V-Link wireless USB stick which is controlled via any computer using the Java-based vertex Light Studio.
The V-Link with Light Studio will turn any computer into an aquarium light controller. Although the V-Link is basically just a USB stick with a flavor of Bluetooth riding on it, at $55 it will be must have accessory for all wireless Vertex products. We don’t yet have any wireless Vertex Illumina or Lumilux LEDs to play with, but we can already see that the Light Studio will be a very flexible platform with future power-ups to control all things aquatic. The Vertex Light Studio is the most polished computer interface we’ve yet seen and it’s about time that we got a GUI which was more Mac OS X than Windows 95. Better yet, since the Vertex Light Studio is based on Java it is platform independent and doesn’t even need to be installed; it just runs like that.
