Premium Aquatic’s German 1-2 Glue ain’t your grandpa’s reef epoxy

Two part epoxies are gross, smelly, cumbersome, they takes forever to cure and half of the time the bond doesn’t hold. For this reason we have more or less abandoned using two part epoxies and try to use super glue wherever possible. So when Jeremy from Premium Aquatics asked us to try their Premium German 1-2 Glue we told him “yeah, yeah, we’ll try your stupid epoxy but but it better not suck!” Following the orgy of coral frag vending that was ReefStock, we found ourselves with a nice bounty of captive raised corals which needed placement and mounting in our various tanks. The first time we kneaded the 1-2 Glue, we were literally reading the part of the instructions that says “rock solid in 2 minutes” when we felt the epoxy go from soft to hard in the span of about 10 seconds. Without exaggeration, the german 1-2 Glue really took us by surprise. With no mess on our hands or in the water, a soft knead and a quick cure, we may end up using the German 1-2 Glue on a more regular basis. A jar of the 1-2 Glue from Premium Aquatics commands a slight premium price of $19.99 but if we end up doing more coral mounts and screwing up less of it, the performance of the 1-2 glue may well justify the price.
