The Aquarium Showroom is the Bay Area’s next level LFS

We get to visit more LFS than your average aquarist and with that we see a lot of duds. Occasionally, we have the pleasure of visiting fishstores with a special touch. We’ve been following the progress of theAquarium Showroomin San Jose CA for over a year now and with our recent visit to BayMAC a few weeks ago, we had ourselves a nice thorough look at the Aquarium Showroom’s newflagshipdisplay aquarium. If a giant, near life sized sunken pirate ship with built marine aquariums and ponds isnt enough to knock your socks off when you walk into a store, then we don’t know what will. Whereas most stores would be content to have a single multi-hundred gallon display tank, the Aquarium Showroom has nearly 10,000 gallons wrapped up and in this ginormous and fairly realistic sunken pirate ship display. The display itself is an indication of the scale of the entire shop: the place is packed with dozens of tanks between 500 to over a thousand gallons, dozens of small to medium sized displays throughout the place and enough coral and fish livestock holding to nearly fill your average wholesaler. We’ve spotted some pretty special livestock at the Aquarium showroom as well: trios of high quality hot pink carpet anemones, dozens of Borbonius anthias back when they were still very rare, a true tigrinus catfish and more than one red long tentacle anemone, which we had never seen before.
