For the rest of you that are fascinated by the endless array of unusual creatures that spill forth from our reef aquaria, this video is for you. This 4″/10cm flatworm was discovered cruising an invertebrate aquarium at speeds up to 2ft/min. Although we tend to think of lower creatures as being slow and lethargic, as this video shows, flatworms can cruise away from rolling video cameras. The aquarium where this flatworm was found included no corals, just a lot of live sand and a few assorted invertebrates so it is unlikely that this creature is a harm to anything larger than a bacteria. As such, this fellow was released to cruise about the invertebrate aquarium and live for another day.
