Sueviota pyriosis yet another new species of dwarf goby to be described, and the latest from the Red Sea. The bright red-orange fish is curiously described from just a single specimen collected in the Gulf of Aqaba at the northern end of this ancient body of water.
Normally the new nano gobies described are in theEviotaorTrimmagenera, but for some reasonSueviota属的小时。大多数recently we gotS. bryozophyta, a dwarf goby that likes to live with Bryozoans, and just a couple weeks ago it wasS. tubicola, with a similar affinity for abandoned deepwater tubeworms.
Since only one specimen was found, we don’t know too much about the preferred habitat for this species. However it’s certain that this won’t be the last new species of miniature goby described this year. [JOSF]
